“What I thought was going to be a quick fix ended up being 3 hours. My bathroom sink needed to “burp” in order to drain. I figured the tech would come snake the drain or open up the trap, clean it and be done. An hour into the job, I ask how it’s going and what is the problem. The tech didn’t understand me. I tried asking in another way, but he still didn’t understand the word “problem” or “wrong”. I gave up and let him continue to work. He shows me a piece that of pipe that he broke, and says that he’ll go to his truck and be back. 45 minutes later, I send a message to the 800 number given and ask where the tech went and when is he coming back. He showed up about 5 minutes later and I get a call saying he’s back. No kidding. A few minutes later a second tech is with the first tech. I ask how much longer because we are now 2 1/2 hours in. The first tech figured out what I’m asking and says 20 minutes. I said and that’s all you have. Second tech has been here about 10 minutes and leaves. First is finishing. He says, “Come look.” I follow and thankfully it is fixed. As the tech is leaving, he accidentally splits some black liquid on the tile and carpet floor. It was an accident, but now I’m getting out the steam cleaner because 15 minutes of him cleaning the tile and carpet, only the tile is clean and my carpet is black (that’s the pictures shown). He apologizes 3 more times. It’s over 3 hours for a burping bathroom sink.
The 3 stars is for the quick response and quick appointment. The job was finished and it was fixed. But if Mike is a new tech, he needs to be supervised more or mentored longer. He needs to be able to communicate what is wrong and how it’s going to be fixed and be understood. Also, if there is a 5% credit charge, that needs to be stated in the original bid not as the tech is on the way a day after the appointment has been made. I had to go find my checkbook to avoid an additional $13 fee (total was $255).”
